Mr. Mohammed Fazil is a visionary third-generation entrepreneur with a strong academic background as a mechanical engineer from Anna University. His professional journey began at Tempel Steel Company, where he excelled as a Quality Engineer. There, he played a pivotal role in establishing comprehensive quality assurance systems throughout the manufacturing process—from supplier quality assurance to final inspection before customer delivery.
Over the years, he honed his expertise in quality assurance and supply chain management, gaining invaluable experience in the manufacturing sector. Driven by a desire to expand his horizons, Mr. Fazil moved to Malaysia, where he deepened his knowledge of the timber industry and global trade. This international exposure laid a solid foundation for his entrepreneurial ambitions.
Fueled by his passion for entrepreneurship and a keen understanding of global markets, Mr. Mohammed Fazil founded Era Timber. Under his dynamic leadership, the company has rapidly evolved into a leading multi-product interior solutions provider. Era Timber specializes in the import of teakwood and other premium hardwoods from over 25 countries across Latin America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

The story of ERA Timbers is deeply rooted in resilience, entrepreneurship, and an enduring family legacy that spans generations and borders.
Our journey begins with Mr. Udhuman Gani (Grand Father of Mohammed Fazil), a visionary entrepreneur who came to Chennai from a small village called Mudukulathur in South of Tamil Nadu in 1960. Amidst uncertain times, he chose to start anew in Chennai, India, driven by a strong determination to rebuild and create a legacy for his family.
With unwavering spirit and hard work, Mr. Udhuman Gani laid the foundation of his business by establishing Udhuman Auto Stores (UAS), catering to the growing automotive market in Chennai. This venture laid the cornerstone for the family's entrepreneurial spirit.
The business grew steadily over the years, and in 1986, Mr. Udhuman Gani's sons—U. Abdul Rahman, U. Mohammed Ismail and U. Syed Abuthahir,—joined the enterprise. Their involvement infused the business with new ideas and fresh energy, ensuring the values of integrity and excellence were carried forward.
In 1991, We ventured beyond India and explored Malaysia. There, we diversified into retail, successfully launching a network of departmental stores and restaurants under the brand "ERA," laying the groundwork for what would become a globally recognised name.
Recognizing the growing potential in the natural resource sector, We entered the timber business in 2002. Acting as a bridge between Malaysia and India, we began trading high-quality timber products, which marked the beginning of the family's involvement in the timber industry.
With a deep understanding of the timber market, the Era group acquired sawmills and entered full-scale timber manufacturing and export. Began shipping premium timber products to clients across the globe, establishing its reputation for quality and reliability.
To further strengthen the company's international presence, Mr. Mohammed Fazil A (Managing Director) moved to Malaysia in 2013 and joined hands with his uncle to start his entrepreneurship career and parallelly laid foundation of Era Timbers. With decades of industry experience and a solid foundation, ERA TIMBERS was officially established in 2013 in the rapidly growing city of Chennai, India. The company quickly became a trusted name in timber imports, offering high-quality wood products sourced from around the world to meet the rising demand in the Indian market.
To ensure sustainable sourcing and superior quality, ERA TIMBERS partnered with sawmills in Ivory Coast, Togo, and Benin. These strategic partnerships enabled the company to expand its footprint across Africa, strengthening its global supply chain and enhancing its offerings.
